Anticipation of the Penitent

Blogging has led me to the most wonderful things, one of which is meeting other bloggers. One of my blogger friends, Nancy LaRonda Johnson blogs at, a.k.a. Writer's Mark, Christian and other fiction, poetry and ideas. She is also the author of, Anticipation of the Penitent.

This is my favorite place to sit and read and I was very excited to start reading. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm happy to say that once I got started, I couldn't stop. From the very first page, the story began to pull me in.

I will say, this is a powerful story with many spiritual lessons that can be learned in real life. It is very well written with hair-raising twists and turns and unforgettable characters throughout. At times, I was filled with anger and fear. Other times, I was filled with hope and moved to tears.

If your looking for an exciting story that's different from the norm then this is the story for you. You won't be disappointed.

I hope you're having a fabulous day!

Happy Anniversary

Five years ago today, I married my best friend and love of my life.

I've learned that having a happy marriage doesn't mean life is perfect - at least not all the time. As a matter of fact, there have been times that we didn't exactly see eye to eye.
But through good times and bad, we've stayed together. You know, sometimes I still feel like a newlywed and I still get giddy when you're about to walk through the door. Besides, how many guys would let their wife  write on their hand with a magic marker? I truly am the luckiest girl in the world and I count my blessings every single day.

I want you to know that as we grow old together and as we continue to change with age, there is one thing that will never change... I will always keep falling in love with you... :)

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I tried a new recipe that I found on Pinterest. It was called the Best Ever Roasted Chicken. The sauce was made with soy sauce, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, garlic and olive oil.

The chicken turned out pretty good, but no... it wasn't the best roasted chicken I ever had. Oh well...

I also tackled a project this weekend. I'm sure some of you can relate, but it can really be challenging when you're decorating an apartment. When we moved in, our rental office suggested that if we have surround sound of any sort, we shouldn't have the speakers directly on the floor. They wanted our speakers to be up on a shelf or on some type of stand. They felt like it would cut down on the noise for the tenants that live below us.

With that said, my husband had these little wooden storage crates stashed away in his man cave and he felt like using them to hold the speakers would be the perfect solution. Okay... I supposed it would work and I wouldn't have to go out and buy anything, right? The problem was, this solution wasn't exactly working for me. I thought it was nice that hubby was willing to help out, but every time I saw those light wood crates next to the dark wood of the media center, it bothered me... probably more than it should have.

So I picked up a can of spray paint at Michael's so that I could tweak the crates a little. They didn't have much to choose from, so I knew it wouldn't be an exact match. I was still hoping that it would all work out in the end, though.

Since it was a nice day, I took my project outside and got busy. I actually ended up using the entire can because to get the right look, I needed to do three coats of paint on each crate.

Like I said, it's not an exact match, but I think it's definitely an improvement.

So, what do you think?

Day Dreaming

Do you see this house? Well, of course you see Okay, I pass by this house every day on my way to work and I always slow down just a little to get a better look. Even if I'm running late, I can't help it, I have to slow down for a quick peek. I've been doing this for over a year now and... NO... I'm not a stalker. It's just that I really admire this house. I think it's so pretty. I imagine that one day, I'll drive by and I'll see a for sale sign in the yard. Of course, I'd probably never be able to afford that house or even one similar to it, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Speaking of dreaming, I even imagine what it might look like inside. Of course, when someone rang the doorbell, they'd probably yell out, "I'll be right down!"

Of course, the living room would be perfect.

And the kitchen would make me want to bake on a daily basis... seriously.

The upstairs bathrooms would be gorgeous.

... And last, but not least, the master bedroom.

Well, that concludes the end of my imaginary tour of the house I can only drool at on the way to work. I hope you enjoyed it... :)
