The Road Of Life

Hi.
                                       Hi

What can I say, hubby loves chocolate and I love hubby, so some days are like this.

Today after my husband disappeared into his man cave to practice playing his guitar, I went into the living room and watched an old episode of House. It wasn't long before I remembered why I stopped watching it a while back. Although it was a good show, it was just so predictable.

So, I kissed my better half good-bye and decided it was time to run an errand. I went to JoAnn Fabrics. My goodness, there was so much to choose from, but what I really wanted was red fabric.

I also needed some kind of trim. I really liked the lace, but with so many choices, it was hard to decide.

Confession, I couldn't sew even if you offered to pay me, so I needed all the help I could get.

By the way, this is the fabric and trim that I ended up choosing. I paid for my purchases hoping that I made the right choice. We'll see...

Okay, Heat n Bond is an iron on adhesive that is supposed to be perfect for non sewers like me. The tape was wider than I needed so I ended up cutting the strip in half. Then I laid it on the back of the fabric and ironed it for a couple of seconds until it stayed in place.

Next, I pulled the backing off of the strip and proceeded to stick the adhesive side down on the fabric.

I only worked on one small section at a time ironing each small portion of fabric until it was completely bonded then I moved on to the next section.

The problem I had with Heat n Bond is that although this product is supposed to be a no sew iron on adhesive only some of the tape stayed in place and some of it didn't, even after it was ironed on. I don't know what went wrong because I followed the directions to a T.

I started getting frustrated so I pulled my glue gun out of my handy, dandy craft kit and started using that instead. I finally got the results I wanted because it worked so much better than the Heat n Bond.

With that said, you may be wondering what I plan to do with this little project that I'm working on. Well, let's just say that it will all be revealed in my next post. Sorry, no hints, but I'm hoping you'll stay tuned for my big reveal. I hope you all have an awesome weekend... :)

Inspiring Home Decor

I removed the pictures from my header. I don't know, I just got tired of looking at them. In the next couple of weeks, I'm going to do something different with this blog, I just don't know what yet.

I've also been spending more time drooling over some very beautiful home décor pics and as always... it inspires me like you wouldn't believe. I just had to share these amazing rooms with all of you and hopefully you'll enjoy them as much as I did... :)

There is just something wonderful about a room that's filled with lots of books and since I have so many of them, I love to see how different people display them.

I would feel right at home in this kitchen. A kitchen like this would make me want to buy a new cookbook... just because.

Yeah, I could see me soaking in that tub, but after I closed the curtain first.

I'll have to use this.

My Sister's Visit

Hello, I hope you all had a great weekend. I'm so sorry I haven't been around for a bit.I really miss seeing what everyone is up to so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I wanted to share a picture of my siblings from a very long time ago. My sister is standing on the left. My dear departed brother who is with Jesus now is on the right and I'm sitting in the chair between them.

My sister is a teacher and she's been teaching school in Abu Dhabi, which is not far from Dubai. Last week, she finally came back to the United States during her summer break. I haven't seen her for a whole year and I can't tell you how great it truly was to spend time with her.

She only stayed with me for a few days, but we squeezed in as much fun as we possibly could. She loves my chicken marsala so her first night with me, that's exactly what I made along with some banana bread.

We had breakfast the next morning at Cracker Barrel. (Okay, do you ever notice that there's never enough room on the table for all those plates they bring you?...lol)

Of course, you can't help but look around the store as you're leaving. There are so many lovely things to see. My sister bought me this little plaque that I absolutely adore. The words are so true because God is such a merciful God and I'm so very thankful for His love.

By the way, this is my sister. She left yesterday and I miss her already. I love you, sis... :)

Have a blessed day!

Eating out and shopping

♥ simple

I hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July. Even though I charged up my camera, I didn't take a single picture. I was having so much fun that I totally forgot...lol.

One good thing is, I have been searching for an affordable rug for my bedroom for the longest. I finally found this one at Home Goods. I really love the pattern. It looks black in this picture, but it's actually navy blue.

Blue is also my favorite color and my husband's favorite color, so it was easy to decide what color to use in our room. I was so excited and just couldn't wait to get this rug home... yes!

Afterwards, my husband took me to Cracker Barrel for lunch, which was different since we usually only have breakfast there. Hubby ordered pork chops. Even though he was hungry, he was trying to wait patiently for me to take another picture since I didn't like the way the first three turned out...lol. He did like the pork chops a lot, but he said thumbs way down on the cucumber, tomato and onion salad.

I ordered a chicken BLT... and yes, it was a sandwich. The bread is hiding under there somewhere, I just hadn't put the sandwich together yet. It was actually pretty good, too.

Speaking of sandwiches, the picture below is actually from a different day, but I never used it. I just really love the way hubby makes peace signs when he's eating a sandwich. I guess I can get pretty goofy, but the silliest things put a smile on my face.

...And since I'm sitting here smiling, hopefully this will leave you with a smile, too.
